The joy of spring. I’m not entirely sure why you would name a Norwegian mitten pattern the joy of spring. Or maybe it makes total sense. Thinking of spring is the only way to make it through the bitter winter. Either way, I’ve finished this one mitten and I’m not sure if it will have the pleasure of a partner. We’ve had our share of warm westerlies this year and the drive to knit like a banshee has been less for me this winter.
I’m not sure how much time I will have for
the frivolities of knitting once we bring Tiger home. And I haven’t had my usual winter evenings to knit. We’ve been running around, buying new refrigerators, remodeling the bathroom, finishing taxes, and planning our travel. I will be going to 4 showers in the next 2 weeks. And we leave in 16 days. We haven’t received our final approvals yet, and while that makes the cautious side of my brain itch, I am throwing caution to the wind. Not really, after all I have a master travel checklist and 3 or 4 sub-checklists started. So much for spontaneity. I used to be a travel agent so I like discovering the ‘diamond in the rough’ good travel deal. This requires advanced research.
So for the past few days, we’ve been watching The Kingdom of War, an epic action flick set in feudal Thailand. It tells the story of the great King Naresuan who liberated his people from Burmese rule. I dig historical dramas, and although 5.5 hours was a bit on the long side, its better than reading a history book. And it may be slightly skewed to the Thai interpretation of history, but hey, what historical drama isn’t biased? I finished my mitten and got a good dose of romanticized Thai history.
